English Abstract

Welcome to my genealogy website! I am collecting everything about Rehren, the place name, the street name, the verb and (of course) the family name. As this website will be unter permanent development, I want to give you at least a short glance of the contents. Later, I plan to translate most of the contents into English.

Most interesting for you, the English speaking reader will most probably be the family name Rehren. As far as I know, this name is present in USA, Chile, Australia, Scotland, Denmark and maybe Argentinia. The name's roots are in Germany. There are about 100 entries in the actual telephone books. An analysis of this directory data shows the roots in the area southwest of the city of Hanover, between Deister mountain and the city of Hanover. This area was Lutheran, but there are also some hints on catholic Rehren in North Rhine Westphalia. I don't know anything about them by now. And there is at least one aristocratic "von Rehren" family that once lived in the Baltic states.

As you see, there is still a lot of research to be done.

First, I collected some data of my own family in Großgoltern from records kept by my father and grandfather. This was already (or still) in my childhood. In winter 2001, I happened to use an internet search engine to find out more about my family name. The result was a lot of material parts of which will be integrated into this website.

This was the basis on which I started the Rehren Genealogy website. More and more Rehren family trees will be integrated.
